The activities of AIM, the European Brands Association, cover all issues impacting the ability of manufacturers to design, to market, to distribute and to sell their brands. Through its membership of national associations in 21 countries and close to 50 corporate members, AIM represents some 1800 companies, the vast majority of which are active in the fast moving consumer goods sector. For over 20 years AIM has coordinated the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, bringing together AIM members with other associations and organisations whose members are also affected by the menace of counterfeiting and piracy.

Attached are brief overviews of the associations and organisations with whom we work in this Committee, together with a complete membership list (including the corporate members) and an explanatory diagram.

Mission of the Committee

- To act as a strong, coherent voice for European industry in the fight against the manufacture, distribution and sale of counterfeit and pirated items
- To engage in world-wide co-operation with all public and private sector stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies and public policy makers.

Introductory Note to the Internet Stakeholders Dialogue

Since early spring 2009 a group of right holders, internet platforms, and consumer organisations are taking part into the Stakeholders Dialogue moderated by the European Commission. Participants meet every month in Brussels to discuss the problems regarding the online sales of counterfeits via auction sites. Under discussion are notice and take down procedures, preventive and proactive measures, information for sellers and buyers, enhanced collaboration between internet platforms and rights-owners, consumer awareness and schemes for redress. The aim of the dialogue is to try to identify practical solutions - BIEM, IFPI, IVF, MPA and ISFE are representing the music and entertainment industry in this dialogue.
